Check a French EPR registration number: format and public register

Updated 15 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: A French producer registration number (identifiant unique, IDU) reads FR, six digits, an underscore, two digits. It is attached to one company and one scheme and recorded in the national register kept by ADEME, whose extract is public open data. This page explains the format and where the register is; it never pronounces on validity: that verdict belongs to the register and to the eco-organisation alone.

The format

FR, six digits, _, two digits: for example FR123456_01. The six digits identify the company's file in the register; after the underscore, two digits tell its registrations apart, one for each scheme. Marketplaces call the number UIN (Amazon), EPR number or IDU.

The public register

data.ademe.fr — producers holding a unique identifier, read on 15 October 2026. For each number: the company, the scheme, the eco-organisation. A number handed over by a supplier or a brand is read there: the register says which company holds it and for which scheme.

Limits of this page

No verdict of valid, invalid or missing is given here, and no scheme is assigned to your products. It is you who determine that, from the texts; the reference page gives the criteria.

If you need a representative established in France

FrenchEPR is written by REP·Pro, an authorised representative (mandataire REP) based in Béziers. Its self-service plan registers a producer with the eco-organisation of each scheme chosen, obtains the identifier and files the declarations: one scheme €29 a month on a 12-month plan, no setup fee; up to three schemes €59; up to six €89; beyond 6 categories, monthly billing only. Eco-contributions invoiced by the eco-organisations are separate. Published prices · Appoint a representative.

Guides are general information drawn from public texts and public pages, not advice on an individual case. It is you who determine whether your situation falls under French EPR and which schemes concern your products.
